Isabelle Stoffel
Isabelle Stoffel is a Swiss actress and director, born in Basel on August 25, 1972. She is a Swiss national who is fluent in German and Spanish, her native languages, as well as English, French, Italian, and Portuguese. After graduating from the Drama Academy in Bern, she developed an international acting career, working in German- and Spanish-language theater, including at the Spanish National Theatre and the Teatro de la Abadía. She was also a member of the Berlin theater ensemble Nico and the Navigators.Stoffel has a notable career in film and television, with credits in both German and Spanish productions. She has appeared in films by Jonás Trueba, such as The August Virgin and The Romantic Exiles, and has also worked with directors including Álex de la Iglesia and Mariano Barroso. Her television work includes roles in the German series Hinter Gittern and the Netflix series Élite, as well as Tatort and 30 Monedas. In addition to acting, Stoffel has directed several theater projects. She was nominated for a Spanish theater award, the Talía, for Best Actress in 2025 for her title role in Witness for the Prosecution. She also translated and directed her own monologue, En Tierra / Am Boden / Grounded, which is based on a play by George Brant about a drone pilot. She has performed her monologue The Surrender in Spanish, German, and English, at locations including the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
