Isla Johnston
Isla Johnston is a British actress known for her roles in both television and film. She gained significant recognition for playing the nine-year-old version of the protagonist, Beth Harmon, in the critically acclaimed 2020 Netflix miniseries, The Queen's Gambit. Her other television credits include the series Invasion and Life After Life. Most recently, she stars in the 2025 supernatural thriller, The Carpenter's Son, directed by Lotfy Nathan. In this film, she plays the crucial role of The Stranger, a character who is a mysterious figure—a scarred refugee girl—later revealed to be Satan in disguise, attempting to tempt and entice young Jesus ("The Boy"). Her performance in this role has been highly praised by her co-star, Nicolas Cage. She has also been in talks for other upcoming projects like Jehanne d'Arc.
