Ivana Baquero Macías, born on June 11, 1994, in Barcelona, Spain, is a highly acclaimed Spanish actress who gained international recognition at a young age. She began her professional acting career at just eight years old, appearing in several small roles before her breakthrough. Her most iconic role came at the age of 11 when she was cast as Ofelia in Guillermo del Toro's critically acclaimed fantasy thriller "Pan's Labyrinth" (2006). This performance earned her widespread critical acclaim and, at 12 years old, made her the youngest Spanish actress to win a Goya Award for Best New Actress.Following her success in "Pan's Labyrinth," Baquero continued to build her career with roles in films like "The New Daughter" (2009) opposite Kevin Costner, and "The Anarchist's Wife" (2008). In 2015, she was cast as Eretria in the MTV television series "The Shannara Chronicles," further expanding her international reach. More recently, she starred in the Netflix series "High Seas" (Alta Mar) and is part of the cast for the upcoming film "A Widow's Game" (2025), where she plays the central role of Maje. Besides acting, Baquero attended the American School of Barcelona, where she became fluent in English, Spanish, and Catalan, and has also pursued law studies.
