Jack Angel (October 24, 1930 – October 18, 2021) was an American voice actor and radio personality known for his extensive work in animation and video games. Before his prolific voiceover career, he was a disc jockey for California radio stations KMPC and KFI, beginning in 1957. Angel lent his voice to numerous characters in popular shows from Hasbro and Hanna-Barbera, including "Super Friends," where he voiced characters like Hawkman, The Flash, and Samurai, as well as "The Transformers" (voicing characters such as Ultra Magnus, Astrotrain, and Ramjet) and "G.I. Joe" (as Wet Suit). He also contributed to many Disney and Pixar productions, providing voices for films like "Monsters, Inc.," "A Bug's Life," "Tarzan," "The Incredibles," "Ice Age: The Meltdown," "Cars," "Horton Hears a Who!," "Toy Story" (as Rocky Gibraltar), and "Toy Story 3" (as Chunk). Beyond animation, Angel's voice could be heard in video games such as "Killer7," "Dreamfall: The Longest Journey," and "Ratchet & Clank," and he even voiced Smokey the Bear for a period. He was married twice, first to Barbara Angel (divorced 1980), with whom he had three children, and then to talent agent Arlene Thornton in 1984. Angel passed away on October 18, 2021, at the age of 90.
