Jackie Shroff
Jackie Shroff (born Jaikishen Kakubhai Shroff on 1 February 1957 in Udgir, Maharashtra) is a veteran Indian actor and producer renowned for his charismatic screen presence and versatile performances spanning over four decades . Raised in a multicultural household—Gujarati father and a mother from Kazakhstan—Jackie spent his early years in Mumbai chawls, selling peanuts and pasting film posters to support his family after they faced financial hardship. He debuted in films with Swami Dada (1982) before skyrocketing to stardom with the Subhash Ghai blockbuster Hero (1983), earning the iconic screen name "Jackie". Throughout his career, Jackie has acted in over 200 films across 13 languages, portraying leads, villains, comedic and character roles in hits like Parinda (winning the Filmfare Best Actor in 1990), Rangeela, Mission Kashmir, Sooryavanshi, and recent blockbusters Singham Again (2024) and Mast Mein Rehne Ka (2023). He is married to Ayesha Shroff (née Dutt) since 1987; they co-founded Jackie Shroff Entertainment Limited and share two children—actor Tiger Shroff and entrepreneur Krishna Shroff. Off-screen, Jackie is an environmental and social advocate—running an organic farm, serving as brand ambassador for Thalassemia India, supporting causes like HIV/AIDS awareness and female foeticide abolition, and funding education and medical support for underprivileged children. In 2021, he donated an ambulance to an animal shelter in memory of his late dog Rocky.
