Jada Koren Pinkett Smith is a highly versatile American actress, producer, singer-songwriter, and talk show host, born on September 18, 1971, in Baltimore, Maryland. She began her career in the early 1990s, achieving her breakout role on the television sitcom A Different World as college student Lena James (1991–1993). Her early film career established her range, featuring critically acclaimed roles in films like Menace II Society (1993) and Set It Off (1996), alongside her commercial success opposite Eddie Murphy in The Nutty Professor (1996). Her most recognizable blockbuster roles include Niobe, the pilot of the Logos and a human rebel, in The Matrix Reloaded (2003), The Matrix Revolutions (2003), and The Matrix Resurrections (2021), as well as voicing Gloria the Hippo throughout the entire Madagascar animated film series. Beyond acting, Pinkett Smith is a co-founder of the production company Westbrook Inc. (with her husband, Will Smith) and has starred in and executive-produced the medical drama series HawthoRNe (2009–2011) and played the villainous Fish Mooney in the first season of the TV series Gotham (2014).
