John Allen "Jake" McDorman IV (born July 8, 1986) is an American actor known for his work in both television and film. He developed an interest in acting in his teens and trained at the Dallas Young Actors Studio in his hometown of Dallas, Texas.McDorman's career began with roles in teen-oriented projects, including a series regular on the sitcom Quintuplets (2004–2005) and supporting roles in the films Aquamarine (2006) and Live Free or Die Hard (2007). He gained wider recognition for his role as Evan Chambers in the ABC Family comedy-drama series Greek, which ran from 2007 to 2011.He has since transitioned to more mature roles in both comedy and drama. His notable television credits include a recurring role on Showtime's Shameless, the title role in the short-lived CBS series Limitless (2015–2016), and the lead role of astronaut Alan Shepard in the Disney+ historical drama The Right Stuff (2020). He also starred in the critically acclaimed series Dopesick (2021) and the Peacock series Mrs. Davis (2023).In film, McDorman's career is highlighted by his co-starring role as Ryan "Biggles" Job in Clint Eastwood's biographical war film American Sniper (2014) and his role in the Oscar-nominated film Lady Bird (2017).
