James DuMont
James DuMont (born James Kelton DuMont, Jr. on August 12, 1965, in Chicago, Illinois) is a prolific American actor and producer with an extensive career spanning over four decades and accumulating more than 160 major film and television credits. He attended Boston University and began his professional journey in theatre, becoming a member of the Ensemble Studio Theatre in New York City and making his Broadway debut in Six Degrees of Separation. After moving to Los Angeles, he seamlessly transitioned to film and television, becoming a reliable presence in blockbuster hits and acclaimed dramas. His notable film roles include appearances in Speed (1994), Catch Me If You Can (2002), S.W.A.T. (2003), Along Came Polly (2004), War of the Worlds (2005), Ocean's Thirteen (2007), Jurassic World (2015), Deepwater Horizon (2016), and, perhaps most notably, playing the father of Jared Leto's character in the Oscar-winning film Dallas Buyers Club (2013). On television, DuMont is well-known for his recurring role as Chad on the HBO series The Righteous Gemstones (2019-2025), and has been a frequent collaborator with director Ryan Murphy, featuring in multiple seasons of American Horror Story and American Sports Story. He has also had recurring roles in Treme and City on a Hill, and has guest-starred on nearly every major procedural, including Law & Order, CSI, NCIS, and FBI. DuMont, who is a practicing Buddhist, maintains residences in New York, Los Angeles, and New Orleans, which he jokingly refers to as being a "Tri-Coastal" actor.
