Jan Komasa
Jan Komasa is a Polish filmmaker born in Poznań, Poland, in 1981, and is a graduate of the National Film School in Łódź. His career is marked by several critically acclaimed and award-winning films, starting with his short film Nice To See You (2003), which won 3rd prize at the Cannes Film Festival (Cinéfondation). He gained wider recognition for his feature films, including the techno-thriller Suicide Room (2011), the epic period film Warsaw 44 (2014), and most notably, Corpus Christi (2019), which was nominated for the Best International Feature Film at the 92nd Academy Awards and earned him Polish Film Awards for Best Film and Best Director. His works have been presented and awarded at major international festivals like Tribeca, Berlin, Cannes, and Venice. Komasa has also directed television series and music videos. His more recent work includes the film The Hater (2020), the black comedy thriller Good Boy (2025), and his American directorial debut, the thriller Anniversary (2025), which explores a family caught in political turmoil. He is the son of theatre actor and professor Wiesław Komasa, and his mother is a singer and music producer.
