Jan Martin Johnsen is a Norwegian actor born on January 19, 1977, in Trondheim, Norway. He graduated from the Norwegian National Academy of Theatre (Statens Teaterhøgskole) in 2002. Johnsen has established a significant career in Norwegian theatre, including engagements at major institutions like Den Nationale Scene in Bergen and Det Norske Teatret (The Norwegian Theatre) and Oslo Nye Teater in Oslo, featuring in productions such as The Producers and Peer Gynt. He is a respected stage comedian, having been awarded the Komiprisen (Norwegian Comedy Award) for Best Male Stage Comedian in 2015, and the Aud Schønemann Prize in 2009. On television, he is known for roles in popular Norwegian series such as Hotel Cæsar (as Jonas Bø), Valkyrien (as Kastriot), Heimebane (Home Ground), and most recently, Norsk-ish. Furthermore, Johnsen is an experienced voice actor, lending his voice to many animated productions, including the role of Bærnt in the Cattle Hill (KuToppen) film series and the character Skalken in the upcoming animated feature, Captain Sabertooth and the Countess of Grel (2025).
