Janella Maxine Desiderio Salvador is a Filipino actress, singer, dancer, model, and host, born on March 30, 1998. She is the daughter of West End musical actress Jenine Desiderio and musician Juan Miguel Salvador. Salvador was born in Cebu and raised in San Juan in Metro Manila. She expressed an interest in performing arts from a young age and began her career after being signed as talent by management directors from Manny Valera and Star Magic.Salvador made her official acting debut in 2012 in the hit daytime drama Be Careful With My Heart, which ran until 2014, playing the character Nikki Grace Lim. This role won her newcomer awards, including the PMPC Star Awards for Television's Best New Female TV Personality in 2013. She continued with lead television roles in Oh My G! (2015), where she played an orphan, Born for You (2016), and the gothic thriller The Killer Bride (2019-2020), which earned her the Princess of Philippine Television award. She later played the supervillain Valentina in the 2022-2023 series Mars Ravelo's Darna.As a singer, Salvador released her self-titled debut album in 2015, which became certified platinum. She has also worked with Disney multiple times, including interpreting the theme song "Happily Ever After" for Hong Kong Disneyland's 10th anniversary and singing a Philippine-exclusive version of Moana's "How Far I'll Go." Her film debut was in the 2015 film Haunted Mansion, a top grosser at the 41st Metro Manila Film Festival, where she won New Movie Actress of the Year. Her other films include Bloody Crayons (2017), So Connected (2018), The Heiress (2019), and the 2023 film Mallari, which earned her a Metro Manila Film Festival Award for Best Supporting Actress nomination. She is also slated to appear in the 2024 international romance film Under Parallel Skies and a murder mystery/thriller TV series titled What Lies Beneath. Her other accolades include three PMPC Star Awards, a FAMAS Award, and a Southeast Asian Best Actress Award from Top 10 of Asia in 2024.
