Janet Novás
Janet Novás Rodríguez (born 1982 in O Porriño, Galicia) is a Spanish dancer, choreographer, and actress renowned for her work in contemporary dance and performance art. She has been based in Madrid since 2001 and has trained in contemporary dance in Madrid, Brussels, and Berlin . Since 2008, Novás has created and developed her own projects, leading to self-experimentation and research. Her work is constructed from observation, experience, and dialogue with her body as the main tool, relying on its own language, shaping the emotional content and the aesthetic simplicity that characterize her work . Her creations have been presented in prestigious national and international festivals such as Rencontres Chorégraphiques, Festival de Marseille, Festival Nouvelles-Pole Sud, Cement Festival, FIDCU (Montevideo), MOV_S, TNT Dansa, Festival de Otoño, Centro Cultural Conde Duque, and Mercat de les Flors, among others. She has received several awards, including the “El Ojo Crítico” from RNE (2021), the Catalan Critics Award for best dancer for the piece “Mercedes mais eu” (2021), and the InJuve Award (2011) with her creation “Cara pintada” . In 2024, she won the Goya Award for Best New Actress for her role in the film O corno by Jaione Camborda, which also won the Golden Shell at the San Sebastián International Film Festival .
