Coming from a prominent film family—her uncle Anil Kapoor and cousin Arjun Kapoor are also actors—Janhvi grew up around the industry. She completed her schooling at Dhirubhai Ambani International School in Mumbai and later pursued an acting course at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in Los Angeles. Janhvi made her acting debut in 2018 with the romantic drama Dhadak, a Hindi remake of the Marathi film Sairat, which was commercially successful and established her as a promising newcomer.
