Jason Beghe
Jason Beghe is an American actor best known for his portrayal of the gritty, ethically complex Sergeant Hank Voight in the NBC franchise Chicago P.D., a role he has played since 2014. Born on March 12, 1960, in New York City, Beghe was raised in a high-profile environment, attending the prestigious Collegiate School where he became lifelong best friends with David Duchovny and John F. Kennedy Jr. Before his acting career took off, he worked as a model in Europe, eventually making his film debut in the 1985 comedy Compromising Positions. His early career was marked by a breakout performance in George A. Romero's horror film Monkey Shines (1988), where he played a quadriplegic law student, followed by supporting roles in major 90s hits like Thelma & Louise and G.I. Jane. Beghe’s distinctive, gravelly voice—the result of a near-fatal car accident in 1999 that required him to be intubated for weeks—has become a trademark of his intense screen presence. Beyond his "tough cop" persona on television, he gained significant public attention in 2008 for becoming one of the first high-profile celebrities to publicly leave and criticize the Church of Scientology, appearing in the documentary Going Clear to detail his experiences. In recent years, while continuing to lead Chicago P.D. into its 13th season in 2026, he has expanded his dramatic range by appearing in socially relevant projects like the refugee drama I Was a Stranger, where he plays a doctor who serves as a moral compass for the film's intersecting stories. Personally, Beghe was married to Angie Janu from 2000 until their divorce was finalized in 2020, and he is the father of two sons.
