Cole's journey into acting began after high school in his hometown, where he started as an extra in an indie film, "Tennessee Stallion," and was upgraded to a speaking role, sparking his passion for the craft. He then moved to Atlanta to study acting and perform in theatre before relocating to Los Angeles in 1987 with a co-written, co-starred, and produced play called "Willow Springs Now," marking the beginning of his extensive Hollywood career.He is widely recognized for his unique supporting roles, often playing villainous characters, including "Zeke" in the cult classic "MacGruber" (2010), and the "Homeless Man" in "The Purge: Anarchy" (2014).
