Jaaved Jaaferi, born Syed Jaaved Ahmed Jaffrey on December 4, 1963, is one of India's most versatile and dynamic entertainers, excelling as an actor, dancer, voice artist, comedian, producer, and host. The son of legendary comedian Jagdeep, Jaaved made his acting debut in the 1985 film Meri Jung, where his role as a villain also showcased his exceptional dancing skills and breakdancing talent, which he is credited with introducing to India. He became a significant pop culture icon in the 1990s through his work on television, particularly as the host of the irreverent and witty shows Videocon Flashback and Timex Timepass on Channel [V]. His long-running association with the comical Maggi Hot & Sweet Sauce commercials also cemented his popularity.Jaaved's influence on Indian television expanded dramatically as the co-creator, director, and judge of Boogie Woogie (1996-2014), India's first major dance reality show, which became one of the longest-running programs of its kind. He is also famous for his hilariously distinct and often improvised voice-over commentary for the Hindi dub of the Japanese game show Takeshi's Castle on Pogo TV, which garnered a massive following among younger audiences.
