Jay Hernandez is an American actor born on February 20, 1978, in Montebello, California. A first-generation Mexican-American, he was discovered by a talent manager while riding an elevator in Los Angeles, leading to his entry into acting. Hernandez began his career in the late 1990s, making his film debut in the 2001 drama Crazy/Beautiful alongside Kirsten Dunst. He gained widespread recognition for his role as Paxton in the 2005 horror film Hostel, which cemented his status as a talented actor in the industry. Over the years, Hernandez has appeared in a variety of films, including Friday Night Lights (2004), World Trade Center (2006), Takers (2010), Suicide Squad (2016), and Bad Moms (2016). He also voiced Bonnie’s dad in Toy Story 4 (2019). In television, he starred as Thomas Magnum in the 2018 reboot of Magnum P.I., a role he continued until the series concluded in 2024. In 2023, Hernandez starred in The Long Game, a historical sports drama based on the true story of the San Felipe Mustangs, a group of Mexican-American youths who overcame prejudice to become Texas state golf champions in the 1950s.
