Jared Antonio Farrow, known professionally as Jay Pharoah, is an American actor, stand-up comedian, and impressionist, born on October 14, 1987, in Chesapeake, Virginia. He began performing impersonations at the age of six, a skill that would become the cornerstone of his comedy career. Pharoah rose to prominence as a cast member on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live, where he was a main cast member from 2010 to 2016. He was particularly lauded for his wide array of celebrity impressions, including President Barack Obama, Will Smith, Eddie Murphy, and Denzel Washington, among many others.Since leaving Saturday Night Live, Pharoah has expanded his career across film and television. His film credits include roles in Lola Versus (2012), Ride Along (2014), Unsane (2018), and the animated film Sing (2016), where he voiced Meena's grandfather. More recently, he appeared in the 2024 film Running on Empty as Sid. On television, he starred in the Showtime series White Famous (2017) and has appeared in various animated series, lending his voice to shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons. In addition to his acting, Pharoah continues to tour as a stand-up comedian and has hosted television shows, including the Nickelodeon game show Unfiltered and the Fox show The Quiz with Balls.
