Growing up with theatre-director parents, she began her artistic journey early, taking piano lessons at eight and starring in a production of Henrik Ibsen's "Peer Gynt" by age ten. She further honed her dramatic arts skills at the Conservatoire de Poitiers.In 2006, Beth moved to London, where she forged a significant creative partnership with Nicolas Congé, known as Johnny Hostile. Together, they formed the indie rock duo John & Jehn. However, she gained global prominence as the powerhouse frontwoman of the English post-punk band Savages, which formed in 2011 and released two Mercury Prize-nominated albums. Savages went on hiatus in 2017, leading Beth to explore solo work and other artistic endeavors.Her debut solo album, "To Love Is To Live," released in 2020, was met with critical acclaim, showcasing her distinctive vocals, intense stage presence, and experimental blend of post-punk and art-rock influences. Beyond her musical pursuits, Jehnny Beth has collaborated with numerous artists, including Bobby Gillespie, Anna Calvi, and Dave Gahan.
