Jenna Coleman (born Jenna-Louise Coleman on April 27, 1986) is an English actress known for a string of highly successful and critically acclaimed television roles. She began her career in the British soap opera Emmerdale, where she played Jasmine Thomas from 2005 to 2009 and earned several British Soap Award nominations. Her breakthrough came in 2012 when she was cast as Clara Oswald, the companion to the Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, in the globally popular BBC science-fiction series Doctor Who, a role she held until 2015. She cemented her status as a leading actress with the title role in the ITV period drama series Victoria (2016–2019), playing the young Queen Victoria, for which she won a Golden Nymph Award for Outstanding Actress. Coleman has since starred in several notable miniseries, earning an International Emmy Award nomination for the psychological thriller The Cry (2018) and high praise for her portrayal of Marie-Andrée Leclerc in the true-crime drama The Serpent (2021). More recently, she gained a new following as Lady Johanna Constantine in the Netflix fantasy series The Sandman (2022) and led the Amazon thriller miniseries Wilderness (2023). Her film credits include small roles in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and a supporting role in Me Before You (2016). She has also been active on stage, including a West End debut in Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons Lemons in 2023.
