Jennifer Ehle (born December 29, 1969) is a highly acclaimed American actress of stage and screen. The daughter of English actress Rosemary Harris and American author John Ehle, she spent her childhood in both the United States and the UK, which she attributes to her ability to convincingly play roles on both sides of the Atlantic. She is a graduate of the Central School of Speech and Drama in London.Ehle first gained widespread fame for her iconic portrayal of Elizabeth Bennet in the 1995 BBC miniseries Pride and Prejudice, for which she won a British Academy Television Award for Best Actress. She is a two-time Tony Award winner for her work on Broadway in Tom Stoppard's plays The Real Thing and The Coast of Utopia.Her film career is extensive, with notable roles in a number of critically acclaimed films. Her credits include Wilde (1997), Sunshine (1999), The King's Speech (2010), Contagion (2011), Zero Dark Thirty (2012), A Little Chaos (2014), Fifty Shades of Grey (2015), Little Men (2016), and She Said (2022). She also has a role in the 2025 film East of Wall.On television, she has appeared in a variety of roles, including The Blacklist, The Looming Tower, The Comey Rule, and the 2023 miniseries Dead Ringers.
