Jennifer Jason Leigh (born Jennifer Leigh Morrow on February 5, 1962) is an American actress, producer, writer, and director. Born into a show business family—her father was actor Vic Morrow and her mother was screenwriter Barbara Turner—she began her career as a child actor in the 1970s. She gained mainstream recognition for her role as Stacy Hamilton in the classic 1982 teen film Fast Times at Ridgemont High.Known for her intensity and willingness to take on difficult roles, Leigh has earned critical acclaim for portraying complex and often vulnerable characters. Throughout the 1990s, she starred in a series of critically lauded independent films, including Last Exit to Brooklyn (1989), Miami Blues (1990), Single White Female (1992), and Mrs. Parker and the Vicious Circle (1994), for which she received a Golden Globe nomination. She also co-wrote and co-directed the 2001 film The Anniversary Party with Alan Cumming.In recent years, Leigh has continued to showcase her versatility in both film and television. Her performance in Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight (2015) earned her Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA nominations for Best Supporting Actress. She has had a recurring role on the hit series Atypical (2017–2021) and appeared in other notable projects like the films Annihilation (2018) and The Water Man (2020), as well as the television series Fargo (2023–2024). She also has a role in the 2025 film Night Always Comes.
