Jessie Cave
Jessie Cave (born May 5, 1987) is a multifaceted English actress, comedian, writer, and illustrator, widely recognized for her role as Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter film franchise. Raised in West London, she originally excelled as a county-level swimmer and national tennis player before pursuing the arts. She earned a degree in Illustration and Animation from Kingston University, a background that continues to inform her work as a cartoonist. Her breakout acting role came in 2009 after beating over 7,000 candidates in an open audition for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Since then, she has built a diverse screen career with roles in Great Expectations (2012), Pride (2014), and series such as Trollied, Black Mirror, and Buffering. In 2025, she appears in the surrealist drama "The Thing with Feathers" as "School Mum," acting alongside Benedict Cumberbatch. Beyond acting, Cave is a prominent voice in the UK comedy and literary scenes. She is a celebrated stand-up comedian, known for her candid, autobiographical solo shows like I Loved Her and Sunrise, the latter of which was nominated for a South Bank Sky Arts Award. She is also a successful author; her debut novel, "Sunset" (2021), became a Sunday Times bestseller and explores themes of grief and sisterhood, inspired partly by her close relationship with her sister, Bebe Cave. In addition to her writing, she is a prolific illustrator, having published the doodle collection Lovesick. Cave maintains a significant online presence through her YouTube channel and various podcasts, including We Can’t Talk About That Right Now with her sister and Before We Break Up Again with her partner, comedian Alfie Brown.
