Jimmy Carr

Born on September 15, 1972, in Isleworth, London, Jimmy Carr is one of the most successful and prolific figures in British comedy, renowned for his signature deadpan delivery, dark one-liners, and fearless interaction with hecklers. After graduating from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, with first-class honors in social and political sciences, he began a corporate career at Shell but left in 2000 to pursue stand-up. Since then, he has become a household name as the long-running host of Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats, its spin-off 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, and the annual Big Fat Quiz of the Year. His career is marked by a relentless work ethic; he frequently performs over 200 shows a year and was the first British comedian to sign a stand-up deal with Netflix, producing hit specials like Funny Business and His Dark Material. In 2024 and 2025, Carr expanded his repertoire into screenwriting with his feature film debut, Fackham Hall, a period comedy spoof he co-wrote and starred in. During this same period, he launched his major international arena tour, Laughs Funny, which has spanned over 30 countries and sold more than a million tickets. He also hosts the Prime Video series LOL: Last One Laughing UK (2025). Beyond the stage, Carr is a Sunday Times bestselling author for his memoir-meets-self-help book, Before & Laughter (2021). He lives in London with his long-term partner, Karoline Copping, and their son, Rockefeller.
