Jin Goo (born July 20, 1980) is a highly respected South Korean actor known for his powerful and often intense performances across film and television. A graduate of Sahmyook University with a degree in Advertising, he made his television debut in 2003 in the drama "All In," playing the younger version of the protagonist portrayed by Lee Byung-hun, with whom he would later reunite in the film "A Bittersweet Life" (2005).Jin Goo's career steadily gained momentum, and he became recognized for his strong, moody characters in films such as Yoo Ha's "A Dirty Carnival" (2006) and the serial killer thriller "Truck" (2008). His breakthrough came with his critically acclaimed supporting role in Bong Joon-ho's 2009 noir thriller "Mother," which earned him Best Supporting Actor awards at both the Grand Bell Awards and the Blue Dragon Film Awards, solidifying his status as a talented dramatic actor.In the mid-2010s, he achieved widespread international fame for his role as the stoic and loyal Sergeant Seo Dae-young in the immensely popular 2016 hit drama "Descendants of the Sun," which garnered him numerous awards, including Best Supporting Actor at the APAN Star Awards and a Best Couple Award with Kim Ji-won at the KBS Drama Awards.His filmography is diverse, encompassing action, crime, drama, and even comedy.
