Leati Joseph Anoaʻi, widely known by his ring name Roman Reigns, is a prominent American professional wrestler, actor, and former football player. Born on May 25, 1985, in Pensacola, Florida, he is a member of the legendary Anoaʻi wrestling family, which includes his father Sika Anoaʻi, his late brother Rosey, and cousins like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and The Usos. Anoaʻi initially pursued a career in football, playing at the Georgia Institute of Technology and having brief stints in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings and Jacksonville Jaguars, as well as a season with the Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL).In 2010, Anoaʻi transitioned to professional wrestling, signing with WWE and adopting the ring name Roman Reigns. He made his main roster debut in 2012 as a member of the influential faction The Shield, alongside Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. As a singles competitor, he rose to become one of the company's biggest stars, capturing multiple world championships and headlining numerous WrestleMania events. After a period of mixed fan reception as a heroic character, he was repackaged in 2020 as a villainous "Tribal Chief" character, which was met with widespread critical acclaim and established him as one of the most dominant champions in WWE history, holding the WWE Universal Championship for over 1,300 days.Outside the wrestling ring, Anoaʻi has also ventured into acting. He made his film debut in Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (2019) and has appeared in other productions, including the animated film Rumble (2021) and the upcoming film The Pickup (2025). He has been married to Galina Becker since 2014, and together they have five children. Anoaʻi has also been open about his personal life, revealing in 2018 that he had been living with leukemia for 11 years and announcing that the disease was in remission after a hiatus from wrestling.
