Johnny Depp is an American actor, producer, and musician, celebrated for his eclectic roles and collaborations with director Tim Burton. Born on June 9, 1963, in Owensboro, Kentucky, he dropped out of high school at 16 to pursue a music career. His acting debut came in Wes Craven’s A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), and he gained fame with the TV series 21 Jump Street (1987–1990). Depp's film career flourished with roles in Edward Scissorhands (1990), Ed Wood (1994), and Sleepy Hollow (1999), often portraying misunderstood characters. He achieved global stardom as Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series, starting with The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003). His other notable films include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), for which he won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor, and Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018).
