Johnny Galecki
John Mark "Johnny" Galecki is a Belgian-born American actor, widely recognized for his prominent roles in two highly successful sitcoms: David Healy in "Roseanne" and its spin-off "The Conners," and most notably, Dr. Leonard Hofstadter in "The Big Bang Theory." Born on April 30, 1975, in Bree, Belgium, to American parents, his family relocated to Oak Park, Illinois, when he was three. Galecki displayed an early passion for acting, beginning his career in Chicago theater productions at the age of seven. He made his onscreen debut in the 1987 miniseries "Murder Ordained," and gained early recognition for his role as Rusty Griswold in the beloved 1989 film "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." His breakthrough television role came in 1992 when he joined the cast of "Roseanne" as David Healy, a character he played until the show's original run ended in 1997, and later reprised for the revival and "The Conners."However, it was his portrayal of the intelligent yet socially awkward physicist Leonard Hofstadter in "The Big Bang Theory" (2007-2019) that catapulted him to international stardom and solidified his status as a household name. For this role, he received numerous accolades, including a Satellite Award for Best Actor in a Series, Comedy or Musical, and nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award.Beyond his comedic television work, Galecki has also appeared in various films, showcasing his versatility as an actor in genres ranging from horror ("I Know What You Did Last Summer," "Rings") to drama ("Suicide Kings," "The Opposite of Sex," "Bounce") and sci-fi ("In Time"). Since the conclusion of "The Big Bang Theory," Galecki has stepped back from extensive acting, choosing to focus on his personal life and other ventures, though he has continued to make sporadic appearances, such as in "A Dog's Journey" (2019).
