Jonathan Daniel Brown is an American actor, writer, director, and executive producer, perhaps best known for his lead role as J.B. in the found-footage teen comedy film Project X (2012). Born on July 1, 1989, he entered the acting scene as a relatively unknown talent before securing that breakout role after a national open casting call.His career has since seen him take on diverse roles in film and television. Notable film credits include portraying Nate Norman in the biographical film Kid Cannabis (2014), Bad Milo! (2013), The Final Wish (2018), and The Sweet East (2023). He also appeared in the 2025 "screenlife" film War of the Worlds. On television, he's had roles in shows like Nick Swardson's Pretend Time, Dating Rules from My Future Self, Danish & O'Niell, and Threads.Beyond acting, Brown has ventured into filmmaking. He made his directorial and writing debut with the short film Horseshoe Theory (2017), which received a jury prize at the Slamdance Film Festival. He has also served as an executive producer on projects such as On a String (2025) and Coup! (2023). Brown has a background in stand-up comedy and was also a member of the leftist pop-culture podcast "Struggle Session" before announcing his departure in 2019.
