Jordin Sparks is an American singer, songwriter, and actress who first rose to international fame as the winner of the sixth season of American Idol in 2007, becoming the youngest winner in the show's history at the age of 17. Following her victory, her self-titled debut album was certified Platinum, featuring the hit singles "Tattoo" and "No Air," a duet with Chris Brown that became one of the best-selling singles by an American Idol contestant. Her second album, Battlefield (2009), also achieved success, producing the title track "Battlefield." Beyond her recording career, Sparks has successfully transitioned into acting, making her Broadway debut in the musical In the Heights and starring in the 2012 film Sparkle, alongside Whitney Houston. Her television and film credits also include roles in the series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and the movie God Bless the Broken Road. She continues to release new music, tour, and has also lent her voice to animated projects, notably playing the mythical fish Shimmer in the upcoming animated film The Pout-Pout Fish (2026).
