Jorma Tommila
Jorma Tommila is a Finnish actor, born in 1959 in Rauma, Finland. He began his acting career in 1987 after receiving education from the Helsinki Theatre Academy. Early in his career, in 1987, he was one of the founding members of the experimental Finnish theater group, Jumalan teatteri (God's Theater), though he was later expelled from the academy for the radical nature of the group's performances. In his film work, he has had a long-standing creative partnership with director Jalmari Helander, who is his brother-in-law.Tommila won the prestigious Jussi Award for Best Actor in 1997 for his role in the film The Christmas Party. He is also known for appearing in Helander's earlier works, including the shorts Rare Exports Inc. (2003) and The Official Rare Exports Inc. Safety Instructions (2005), and the features Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale (2010) and Big Game (2014). He gained significant international recognition for his lead role as the legendary ex-commando and gold prospector Aatami Korpi in Helander's 2022 action-thriller, Sisu, for which he won the Best Actor award at the Sitges Film Festival. He is married to actress Ida Helander-Tommila and is the father of actor Onni Tommila. He will reprise his lead role as Aatami Korpi in the upcoming sequel, Sisu: Road to Revenge (2025).
