
José Ángel Egido
José Ángel Egido Pérez (born November 30, 1951, in Redondela, Pontevedra, Spain) is a distinguished Spanish actor with a career spanning film, television, and theater. In the 1980s, he moved to Italy to study acting at Cinecittà in Rome, where he made his acting debut in the 1983 short film Un arrivo. He gained widespread recognition in Spain for his role as Borja Pradera in the popular TV series Médico de familia (1995).Egido’s film career took off with Los lunes al sol (2002), directed by Fernando León de Aranoa, for which he received the Goya Award for Best New Actor. He has also appeared in notable films such as Los girasoles ciegos (2008), El mal ajeno (2010), and Everybody Knows (Todos lo saben, 2018). On television, he is well known for his role as Cardinal Mendoza in the long-running series Águila Roja.In 2025, José Ángel Egido appeared in Romería, directed by Carla Simón, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival. His versatility and dedication have made him a respected figure in Spanish cinema and television.
