Josh Gad

Josh Gad is an American actor, comedian, and singer, best known for voicing Olaf in Disney's Frozen franchise. Born on February 23, 1981, in Hollywood, Florida, Gad is of Afghan Jewish descent on his father's side and Ashkenazi Jewish on his mother's. He graduated with a BFA in drama from Carnegie Mellon University in 2003. Gad's breakthrough came with the Broadway musical The Book of Mormon (2011), where he portrayed Elder Cunningham. His performance earned him a Tony Award nomination and a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album. In 2013, he voiced Olaf in Frozen, a role that won him two Annie Awards and widespread acclaim. He reprised this role in Frozen II (2019), and later in the Disney+ series Olaf Presents (2021), where Olaf humorously retells classic Disney stories . In addition to his voice work, Gad has appeared in films such as The Wedding Ringer (2015), Murder on the Orient Express (2017), and Marshall (2017). On television, he starred in the HBO series Avenue 5 (2020–2022) and co-created the Apple TV+ animated series Central Park (2020–present), where he voices the character Birdie . Gad is married to actress and producer Ida Darvish, with whom he has two daughters. The couple founded the production company Angry Child Productions in 2008 . In January 2025, Gad released his memoir, In Gad We Trust: A Tell Some, offering insights into his life and career.
