The pair met at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts and began collaborating on various projects. Gordon and Speck gained early recognition with their short film Culture (1997), which starred Philip Seymour Hoffman and earned them an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film. This success led to a prolific career in both film and advertising. They co-directed the feature film Blades of Glory (2007), a sports comedy starring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder, which was a commercial hit. Their subsequent films include The Switch (2010), Office Christmas Party (2016), and Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022). In 2024, they directed Long Distance, a sci-fi film starring Anthony Ramos and Naomi Scott. Additionally, they co-created and executive produced the animated series Hit-Monkey for Hulu. Beyond their film and television work, Gordon and Speck have directed numerous award-winning commercials, including the iconic Geico campaigns featuring the Cavemen and the Gecko. Their commercial work has garnered accolades such as Cannes Lions, Cleos, British Arrows, and the AICP Campaign of the Year award. Gordon's creative partnership with Speck continues to thrive, with several high-profile projects currently in development, including The Wedding People, The Chaperone, and a musical adaptation of The Oregon Trail.
