Josh Hartnett

Josh Hartnett, born Joshua Daniel Hartnett on July 21, 1978, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, is an American actor who rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He began his acting career with the short-lived ABC crime drama series Cracker (1997-1998) before achieving teen idol status through his roles in horror films like Halloween H20: 20 Years Later and The Faculty (both 1998), as well as Sofia Coppola's The Virgin Suicides (1999). Hartnett solidified his leading man image with roles in high-profile films such as Pearl Harbor, O, and Black Hawk Down (all 2001), followed by the romantic comedy 40 Days and 40 Nights (2002). Despite his early success and being touted as a Hollywood heartthrob, Hartnett consciously chose to take on smaller, independent projects to focus on his craft and avoid the trappings of intense fame. This led to roles in films like Sin City, Lucky Number Slevin, Black Dahlia, and 30 Days of Night. More recently, he has garnered critical acclaim for his television work, including his role as Ethan Chandler in the Showtime horror series Penny Dreadful (2014-2016) and his appearances in the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead (2022) and the British thriller The Fear Index (2022). In 2023, he starred in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer. Looking ahead, Hartnett is set to appear in the action comedy Fight or Flight (2025) as Lucas Reyes, further showcasing his versatility as an actor. He is married to English actress Tamsin Egerton, and they have four children.
