Josh McDermitt

Josh McDermitt is an American actor and comedian, best known for his role as Dr. Eugene Porter on AMC's highly successful horror drama series, The Walking Dead. Born on June 4, 1978, in Phoenix, Arizona, McDermitt began his career in entertainment at a young age in radio, followed by stand-up comedy. His comedy career took off after he reached the semi-finals on NBC's Last Comic Standing in 2006, leading him to tour and open for established comedians. He transitioned to television with a main role as Brandon in the TV Land sitcom Retired at 35 from 2011 to 2012. McDermitt's most prominent role began in 2014 when he joined the cast of The Walking Dead, portraying the intellectually gifted but initially cowardly Eugene Porter through the show's final season in 2022. Beyond the zombie apocalypse, he has taken on diverse roles, including recurring as George Payton on the final season of Mad Men, playing Glenn Beck in the Showtime limited series The Loudest Voice, and starring in the upcoming NBC pilot Suits LA as Stuart Lane. He is also a founding member of the improvisational comedy group Robert Downey Jr Jr. and actively supports various charitable organizations.
