Joy Jorgensen is an American film producer, director, writer, and former actress. Born Lauren Joy Jorgensen on October 18, 1989, she began her career as a child actress and is perhaps best known for her role as Danielle Van de Kamp on the popular ABC comedy-drama series Desperate Housewives. She was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series for her work on the show.After her acting career, Jorgensen transitioned behind the camera, earning a Bachelor's degree from Columbia University and a Master's degree in Screenwriting and Directing from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts. She founded her own production company, Killjoy Films, and has been a prolific producer of independent and short films. Her producing credits include Runner (2022) which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, and We Strangers (2025), which premiered at the South by Southwest film festival and won a Special Jury Award. She is also a Sundance and Rotterdam Producing Fellow.
