Julia Pace Mitchell, born Julia Annette Mitchell on February 10, 1978, in Los Angeles, California, is an American stage, television, and film actress. She is the daughter of prominent actors Judy Pace and Don Mitchell. She received her education at Hamilton High School Music Academy, went on to earn a BFA from Howard University, and further honed her craft with an MFA from the National Theatre Conservatory. Her acting career began in the early 2000s, and she is perhaps best recognized for her role as Sofia Dupre on the CBS daytime soap opera The Young and the Restless, a role she played from 2010 to 2012, and reprised in 2019.Beyond her soap opera work, Mitchell has appeared in a variety of films, including "Notorious" (2009), "Faster" (2010), "Meet Bill" (2007), and "Fall" (2022). Her television credits also include guest roles on popular series such as "Law & Order," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Cold Case," "Strong Medicine," "Young Sheldon," and "All the Queen's Men." On stage, she has performed in Off-Broadway productions like "Ohio State Murders" and regional theatre, including "In the Continuum" and "Stick Fly." She has also studied classical theater at Oxford University and the University of California, and is connected with The Groundlings. In her personal life, she welcomed her first child, Stephen L. Hightower III, in 2013.
