Julian Black Antelope, often known as "JBA," is a Canadian actor, writer, director, and producer of First Nations/Central American and Irish descent. Born into the "Sixties Scoop," he was adopted and raised by a non-Indigenous family, later reconnecting with his Indigenous heritage through the Blackfoot communities and eventually being formally adopted into the Kainai Nation.A self-taught actor, Black Antelope began his career in the Canadian music scene before transitioning to film and television in 2004, initially working in background and stunt roles on projects like DreamWorks/TNT's "Into the West." His breakout television role came as Darrien Tailfeathers in the critically acclaimed Canadian series "Blackstone" (2009-2015), for which he received a Canadian Screen Award nomination. His film credits include "Hold the Dark" (2018), "Don't Say Its Name" (2021), and a notable role as Chief Kehetu in the 2022 "Predator" prequel, "Prey." He has also appeared in popular series such as "Penny Dreadful," "The Flash," "Condor," "Tribal," and "NCIS: Origins."Beyond acting, Black Antelope is a passionate storyteller. In 2016, he founded his own production company, HERD of 1 MEDIA, through which he has produced award-winning films and created the documentary series "Secret History," where he also serves as writer, director, producer, and host, exploring overlooked Indigenous figures and stories. He is also dedicated to fostering Indigenous talent in the industry, having developed the Pathfinders Film Institute Corp, which provides subsidized training for BIPOC creatives.
