Julio Macias

Julio Macias (born March 20, 1990) is a Mexican-American actor, writer, and producer who gained international recognition for his breakout role as Oscar "Spooky" Diaz in the Netflix series On My Block (2018–2021), a performance that earned him two Imagen Award nominations. Born in Mexico City, he moved to the United States as a child, eventually settling in Los Angeles where he developed his craft at the Circle in the Square Conservatory in New York. Macias has built a diverse portfolio, portraying real-life musician Pete Astudillo in Selena: The Series (2020–2021) and appearing in projects such as Promised Land, The Rookie, and the 2025 thriller Border Hunters. Beyond acting, he is a co-founder of BlankFilms, a production company through which he has directed and produced music videos and short films, including the horror short Obsidion. He is known for his immersive approach to characters, often conducting deep historical research to avoid stereotypes and bring "emotional intelligence" to his roles.
