Karen Fukuhara is an American actress born on February 10, 1992, in Los Angeles to Japanese parents. Bilingual in Japanese and English, she attended Japanese language school for eleven years and later graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in 2014 with a B.A. in Sociology and a minor in Theater. Prior to her major acting debut, she was a host for the Disney Channel's short news program Movie Surfers in middle school, and a reporter for a sports show on NHK in Japan during college. Fukuhara gained initial widespread recognition for her breakout role as the skilled swordswoman and DC Comics character Tatsu Yamashiro/Katana in the 2016 superhero film Suicide Squad. She has since become most famous for playing the fan-favorite vigilante Kimiko Miyashiro, or "The Female," in the critically acclaimed Amazon Prime Video series The Boys (2019–present), a role that showcases her background in martial arts, having earned a brown-striped belt in karate. Furthermore, she is a prominent voice actress, lending her voice to characters such as Glimmer in Netflix's She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, Kipo Oak in Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts, and Haru in the animated series Pokémon Concierge. Her upcoming projects include the 2025 action-thriller film Stone Cold Fox.
