Kat Coiro is an acclaimed American director, producer, and screenwriter who has become a prominent figure in both high-budget studio comedies and prestige television. After beginning her artistic training at the Interlochen Arts Academy and Carnegie Mellon University, Coiro furthered her studies at the Moscow Art Theatre in Russia, a background that informed her transition from acting into filmmaking. She first gained attention in the independent film circuit with her directorial debut L!fe Happens in 2011, followed by the critically well-received And While We Were Here in 2012, which she notably filmed in Italy while eight months pregnant. This early success led to a prolific career in television, where she directed episodes for major series such as Modern Family, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Shameless, and Dead to Me. Her ability to balance character-driven storytelling with commercial appeal reached a peak in 2022 when she directed the hit Universal Pictures romantic comedy Marry Me starring Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, while simultaneously serving as the lead director and executive producer for the Marvel Studios series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
