Kat Dennings, born Katherine Victoria Litwack on June 13, 1986, in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, is an American actress renowned for her roles in both film and television. Raised in a Jewish family, she was homeschooled and graduated high school at just 14 years old, later moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting full-time. Her early career began with commercials and guest roles on TV shows like Sex and the City and ER. She made her film debut in Raise Your Voice (2004) and gained recognition with roles in The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005) and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (2008). She is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Max Black on the CBS sitcom 2 Broke Girls (2011–2017) and as Darcy Lewis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013), and Thor: Love and Thunder (2022). In addition to acting, Dennings has ventured into producing and voice work, including her role in the Disney+ series WandaVision (2021) and the animated series What If...? (2021–2024). As of 2025, she stars in and produces the ABC comedy Shifting Gears, alongside Tim Allen.
