Katherine Anne "Kate" Bosworth is an American actress born on January 2, 1983, in Los Angeles, California. She is the only child of Patricia Bosworth, a homemaker, and Harold Bosworth, a former executive for Talbots. Due to her father's career, her family relocated frequently, and she was raised mainly on the East Coast in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Bosworth has a distinguishing characteristic of being born with heterochromia iridum, having a hazel right eye and a blue left eye. She was a champion equestrian as a child, which helped her land her first film role as Judith in The Horse Whisperer (1998), followed by a minor role in Remember the Titans (2000). Her career breakthrough came with the leading role of surfer Anne Marie in the 2002 film Blue Crush. She continued to take on diverse roles, portraying Dawn Schiller in the true crime film Wonderland (2003) and actress Sandra Dee in the biographical drama Beyond the Sea (2004). One of her most notable roles was playing the iconic reporter Lois Lane in Superman Returns (2006). Her later film work includes 21 (2008), Straw Dogs (2011), and Still Alice (2014).
