Keita Machida

Keita Machida (born July 4, 1990) is a highly acclaimed Japanese actor and member of the theatre troupe Gekidan EXILE under the LDH agency. Originally an aspiring pilot, he attended the Japan Aviation High School before discovering a passion for dance, eventually training at the prestigious EXPG Tokyo. While he was briefly a candidate for the J-pop group Generations from Exile Tribe, a serious injury shifted his focus entirely to acting. Machida rose to international stardom through his breakout role as the charming Yuichi Kurosawa in the 2020 BL drama Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! and his portrayal of the tough but loyal Karube in Netflix’s Alice in Borderland. Known for his disciplined approach and "noble" screen presence, he has since played a wide range of roles, from a historical aristocrat in the 2024 Taiga drama Dear Radiance to the lead in the 2025 series Glass Heart. In the 2025 Netflix film 10DANCE, Machida plays Shinya Sugiki, a world-class Standard Ballroom champion nicknamed "The Emperor." Sugiki is a character defined by icy self-control, perfectionism, and a hidden emotional burden involving his dance partner, Fusako (Anna Ishii). To prepare for the role, Machida underwent months of intensive ballroom training, later confessing that even with his background in hip-hop, the technical precision of ballroom was a "humbling" challenge. His performance has been widely praised for its subtle vulnerability, particularly as his character's starchy exterior melts during his "raw and visceral" training sessions with his rival-turned-lover, Shinya Suzuki (Ryoma Takeuchi).
