Kelly Lynch
Kelly Lynch (born January 31, 1959) is an American actress and former model whose career spans several decades of iconic roles in both independent and mainstream cinema. In the 2025/2026 thriller Dead Man’s Wire, Lynch reunites with director Gus Van Sant—nearly 40 years after their collaboration on the landmark film Drugstore Cowboy—to play Mabel Hall, the wife of the kidnapped mortgage broker Richard "Dick" Hall (Dacre Montgomery). Her performance has been highlighted as a grounded emotional anchor in the film, portraying the wife of a man held at gunpoint for 63 hours by a disgruntled developer. Lynch first gained major fame in the late 1980s with back-to-back roles in Cocktail (1988) and as the female lead in the cult classic Road House (1989) opposite Patrick Swayze. Her critical breakthrough came with her portrayal of Dianne in Van Sant's Drugstore Cowboy (1989), which earned her an Independent Spirit Award nomination. She famously turned down the lead role in Basic Instinct (which later went to Sharon Stone) to pursue character-driven work in films like The Beans of Egypt, Maine (1994), for which she received a second Spirit Award nomination. Her extensive television career includes recurring roles in The L Word, 90210, and the Starz period drama Magic City, created by her husband, screenwriter Mitch Glazer.
