Kevin Norwood Bacon, born on July 8, 1958, is an American actor, director, and musician with a career spanning over four decades. He is known for his versatility, having taken on a wide range of roles in both film and television. His prolific career led to the creation of the popular game "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon," which attempts to connect any actor to him in six steps or less.Bacon's career took off with iconic roles in films like Footloose (1984), JFK (1991), and Apollo 13 (1995). He has also received critical acclaim for his performances in Mystic River (2003) and the TV movie Taking Chance (2009), for which he won a Golden Globe Award.In addition to his film work, Bacon has had a successful television career, starring in series such as The Following and City on a Hill.
