Kevin Spacey (born Kevin Spacey Fowler on July 26, 1959, in South Orange, New Jersey) is an American actor, director, and producer who rose to prominence for his intense and versatile performances across stage and screen. After attending Juilliard, Spacey began his career in theater, making his Broadway debut in 1982. He gained significant recognition for his stage work, including a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for "Lost in Yonkers" in 1991.In the mid-1990s, Spacey transitioned to film and quickly achieved international stardom. He won his first Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as the enigmatic Verbal Kint in "The Usual Suspects" (1995). His critical acclaim continued with a Best Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of Lester Burnham in the darkly comedic "American Beauty" (1999). Other notable film appearances include "Se7en" (1995), "L.A. Confidential" (1997), "Pay It Forward" (2000), and "Superman Returns" (2006), where he played Lex Luthor. He also lent his voice to the character of Hopper, the main antagonist, in Pixar's "A Bug's Life" (1998).From 2004 to 2015, Spacey served as the artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre in London, earning praise for his commitment to the stage and his performances in productions like "Richard III." His television career saw him star as the cunning Frank Underwood in the critically acclaimed Netflix series "House of Cards" (2013-2017), a role that garnered him a Golden Globe Award.
