Kharaj Mukherjee, also known as Kharaj Mukhopadhyay, is a veteran Indian actor, comedian, and singer who primarily works in Bengali and Hindi cinema. Born on July 7, 1963, in Rampurhat, West Bengal, he has established himself as one of the most versatile actors in the industry. Before starting his film career, he worked for the Indian Railways. Mukherjee made his acting debut in the 1980 Bengali film, Hulusthul. He is known for his ability to seamlessly transition between comedic and dramatic roles, earning him a strong reputation in the Bengali film industry. In addition to his work in Bengali cinema, he has appeared in several Bollywood films, including notable roles as a CBI officer in Special 26 and as Inspector Chatterjee in Kahaani, a role he reprised in Kahaani 2. He also won the Bengal Film Journalists' Association – Best Male Playback Award in 2004 for the film Patalghar. His extensive filmography spans over four decades, showcasing his talent and enduring presence in both regional and national cinema.
