Kippei Shiina (born Masayoshi Iwaki on July 14, 1964, in Mie Prefecture, Japan) is a highly prolific and respected Japanese actor who has been active since 1986. Known for his versatility, he has appeared in a wide array of roles across film and television, often portraying cool, intense, or morally ambiguous characters. A major breakthrough in his film career came with the 1995 crime thriller Gonin, and he has since built an extensive filmography that includes collaborations with acclaimed directors. Some of his most notable film roles include the hitman John Rain in the 2009 international thriller Rain Fall, co-starring Gary Oldman, and the major yakuza lieutenant Mizuno in Takeshi Kitano's 2010 crime film Outrage. Other significant movie appearances include Shinjuku Triad Society (1995), Shinobi: Heart Under Blade (2005), the horror film Reincarnation (2005), and the Netflix original The Forest of Love (2019). On television, he is recognized for roles in long-running dramas and series like Code Blue and SPEC. Shiina was married to actress Mirai Yamamoto from 2003 until their divorce in 2019.
